Video Editing API
One call applies named operations to a clip: caption, emoji and keyword-highlight toggles, filler-word and pause removal, section trim, split, drop and reorder, phrase cutting, caption colour, position and casing, dubbing, and undo.
Removal operations shorten the clip and keep video, captions and audio in sync, so you are not re-aligning subtitles afterwards.

What separates an editing API from a render farm
Edits stay in sync
Cutting a phrase or a pause shortens the clip and moves captions and audio with it. The output is a finished clip, not a timeline you still have to repair.
It knows what was said
Transcripts come back as paragraphs with start and end times in seconds, an optional speaker, and per-word timings, which is what makes phrase-level cuts possible.
Undo is an operation
Undo is part of the same named-operation set, so an automated edit pass can roll a step back instead of rebuilding the clip from scratch.
Fix captions without opening an editor
Toggle captions, emoji and keyword highlights, change caption colour, position and casing, or correct a single typo in one clip.
The preview re-renders after the call, so the next read shows the corrected cut.

Ship clean audio by default
Filler-word and pause removal run as operations on an existing clip, or as enableRemoveFillerWords at submit time.
Either way the um, uh and dead air come out before anyone watches.

Get real files, not previews
Listing and describing clips returns preview URLs. HD downloads come from the export call, one clip at a time or a whole collection at once.
Build that into your pipeline and nothing ships at preview quality by accident.

From key to edited clip
Create a key
API access is on Pro (Beta), Max and Business plans. Generate the key in the OpusClip dashboard under API Access, and keep it in the environment that launches your code.
Create a project
POST a source URL to /api/clip-projects, or request an upload link for a local file. Inputs run up to 10 hours and 30GB.
Apply operations
Edit the clip with named operations in a single call: trims, splits, reorders, caption changes, filler-word removal, dubbing.
Export
Pull the HD download for the clip or the whole collection, and send a signed webhook to your own service when the render completes.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does this API edit an existing video or only make new clips?
Both. Creating a project cuts a long video into clips, and the edit call then applies named operations to a clip you already have, including trims, splits, reorders, caption fixes and filler-word removal.
How many requests can I make per minute?
30 per minute per API key on the core project and clip endpoints. Going over returns 429, and the social posting endpoints have their own per-endpoint limits, mostly 1 to 10 requests per second.
How do I get a downloadable file?
Call the export endpoint. Listing and describing clips returns preview URLs only; the HD download URL comes from exporting a single clip or an entire collection.
Which plans include API access?
Pro (Beta), Max and Business. Pro Beta and Max include 15 hours or 900 credits of API usage per workspace per calendar month, and Business limits follow the contract.
