Dometi Pongo introduction

Dometi Pongo is a journalist and executive producer at Paramount across many channels including MTV and VH1. Outside of his camera work, he also works as a creative consultant. He has been in the industry for 10 years now.

Goal

Use shorts to share important information as digestible as possible

For Dometi's business, short videos are key in terms of getting important information out to people. It's about information and access to information in a format that isn't intimidating and time-consuming.

When the pandemic hit and nobody knew what this was, Dometi, being the host of MTV News, utilized shorts to get important information out and come combat misinformation.

Pain point

Juggling between different programs is a huge pain

Dometi mentioned that for non-professional video editors, they not only need to spend a lot of time finding the juiciest parts from the long-from video and cutting away unnecessary parts. After that, they still need to go to so many different programs to burn in captions, turn 16:9 videos into 9:16 shorts, and many other manual works. This is very time consuming.

"I love the virality score and the feedback it gives. As a producer, this is the feedback that I would give somebody if I was looking at their content."

What drew you in

High quality shorts with on-point AI virality score

Dometi came to know OpusClip through a friend. After putting an hour long interview into OpusClip, he was not only amazed by the quality of the shorts, which have captions and emojis, but more importantly, the feedback its AI virality score gives. It's not perfect, but most of the time it's very on-point. As a producer, that's the kind of feedback that he would give somebody.

Result

High quality curation and editing all with just one click

The biggest value OpusClip brought to Dometi is pulling the interesting sound bites, editing them within the timeframe that he chooses, and creating valuable clips with the subtitles burned in in a reasonable amount of time. On average, it saves Dometi two and a half hours to edit four clips.
